Sunday 30th April 2023: last day open finals at 32nd World Pilot Gig Championships

As my races were over had a great day following the open women’s and men’s races. The day started foggy but for the final cleared up and was very sunny and warm. Coverack had a great result in the mens A who came second and womens A who came fifth. The younger B teams also did well. See a few photos below the final A teams coming in to the other boats before them with their oars up was quite a spectacle.

The evening consisted with the award 🥇 ceremony followed by a sing song 🎵 of sea shanties in the Scillonian with my Coverack team members. Arrived back at campsite ⛺️ early in the morning for last but one night. However the water tap next me broke after someone came for water and had to call out Jared from Garrison to fix it with a hose attachment and ended up in the tent ⛺️ at 2.30am for a well deserved sleep. Great event and look forward to next year hopefully representing my new gig club – Penzance and Newlyn Pilot Gig Club (PNPGC).
