Tuesday 18th July 2023: PNPGC – The Great River race long row training session

PNPGC Long Row training for the Great River race. Cox:Wendy, 6: Jem, 5: Julie, 4: Steve, 3: Me, 2: Alison 1: Trevor with Sarah who later replaced Alison half way. Very choppy seas and cloudy making the row challenging π₯ which was good for training . Lot’s of sing shanties to keep people amused such as a drop of Nelson’s blood π©Έ. Alison ended up soaked from a large wave that partly came over the boat in the pilot seat.

Saturday 15th July 2023: Quick recovery zwift virtual ride on WattBike on zwift France route

Quick Zwift recovery ride on WattBike after yesterday’s long RowErg row. Using different muscles. Followed this with some strength training with weights

Friday 14th July 2023: Training Row on RowErg

Training endurance 10km row on Ergo for the River race. This was followed by a short strength training session with weights


Thursday 13th July 2023: PNPGC Evening crew row

Saturday 8th July 2023: Quick row on Ergo
Quick row on Concept2 ergrow to increase fitness for the Great River Race in September. Need to quicken the time per 500m and distance. I think more flexibility in hips by Pilates to increase forward reach and length of stroke. Good workout though.

Wednesday 5th July 2023 : PNPGC Row for Health initiative celebrating 75 years of NHS
Penzance and Newlyn Pilot Gig Club (PNPGC) led a row along the Penzance sea front to Sandy Cove. We had two boats π£ββοΈ out the six oared Morladron and four oared flighty Four-Titude fully crewed seen above where I was in stroke. Morladron crew below with oars up and flying the thank you to the NHS flag. We were also joined in this row with our friends in Porthleven gig club who brought two boats energetic and π£ββοΈ to support our initiative.
We rowed from Penzance Harbour along the sea front and onto Sandy cove and back. First row to Sandy cove below in the flighty four oared gig Cox: Wendy, 4: Me, 3: Trevor, 2: 1: Cara with flying the flag. Little choppy and β
οΈ with some Sun but nice evening for a row




Arrived at Sandy cove but decided to go back along the beach for the second row.



After the row we went to the Longboat pub in Penzance for a drink π»with the Portleven crews that could stay on.
