Three of us went to the above regatta at Silver Wings Sailing Club that is in Wraysbury lake in Staines. There were 11 teams at the event including Rowhedge, Brightlingsea, London Cornish, West London, Poole, Newhaven, Affinity, Lewes, Oarsome Thames Barbarians and us. There were gig races as follows – men’s and women’s six oared (2 laps) men’s and women’s four oared (1 lap) and mixed six oared (2 laps). We were first up in the men’s 6 with the support of 3 rowers from Poole plus the cox. Trevor, James and myself were the PNPGC team. We won this heat convincingly against Oarsome and Sussex gig teams which was great as two of the Poole rowers were Poole juniors.
We fueled up with an Ann’s pastie and few beers before the next two races that were at the end of day.
Some great racing followed which is shown on the results board later. The next race was the men’s four oared gig race gig race heat which included us three plus a rower from Rowhedge. We won this convincingly. Trevor was 4, James 3 RCRC rower and 1 me.
