Thursday 13 April 2023: Three ErgRow sessions on Concept2

With the weather wind 💨 🌧️ being awful decided on playing on the Concept2 Ergrow with a few interval sets starting with 8 x 30 seconds intervals and one called the magnificent 7 starting with 700m with 70sec rest then 600m with 60 sec rest, the 500m with 50sec rest, then 400m with 40sec rest, then 300m with 30sec rest, then 200m with 20 sec rest then 100m to finish. Fun 🤩 one to do. Total training done was 4916 which is great to top up my fitness for the Scillies and bringing down times on the PM5. Want to get well below well 2 minutes/500m on the PM5 by improving my technique on the Concept2. I followed this with around 20 minutes strength training with weights.

Tuesday 4th April: CGC Super Vets training session

Training session with CGC Super-vets in Falmouth harbour. Lots of racing start practice with 3 minute race sessions in and out of harbour. The sea was choppy outside the harbour which was fun 🤩. Cox: Emily, 6: Lynette, 5: Jon, 4: Gary, 3: Pete, 2: Me, 1: Gary. However about 10 minutes is missing due to accidentally pushing the pause button ☹️

Tuesday 28th March: CGC Scillies Supervets men’s team training in Pothoustock beach je

Good session training with CGC for the first time at Porthoustock Beach near Coverack. Crew : Cox: Sophie, 6: Lilly, 5: Jon, 4: Gary, 3: Peter, 2: Me, 1: Andy. The launch off on the beach was interesting as rather rough and the boat filled with water until we rowed out of the in coming waves. Took some time emptying the boat of water with a bucket and a smaller containers before we could row. Then practiced starts 2 strong, followed by four powerful and long and then into long fast racing strokes for 2 minutes. We did several of these in rough swelly seas where we had to find the water. Good practice ready for the Scillies world championship race in a months time with plenty of time for training. Coming into the beach on the waves on the gig future was fun also. Looking forward to Mini Scillies at Helford if takes place axman weather looks bad.
